COVID-19 INFORMATION AND RESCHEDULING THE CONGRESS
Dear Colleagues, dear Friends,
In light of the ongoing developments resulting from the world pandemic situation of COVID-19 and after careful consideration of the health and wellbeing of the congress participants which is our top priority, the IFSO-EC Organizing committee decided to reschedule the 9th IFSO-European Chapter Congress. The event which was due to be held on 21-23 May 2020, will now take place on 10-12 December, 2020 at the same location at the Hotel Diplomat Prague.
All engagements with the organizing secretariat related to this congress are automatically shifted to the new congress dates. We keep the registrations,

In light of these developing circumstances, we have concluded that postponing the event is the best decision to ensure the safest environment for all

It´s my great pleasure and honour to welcome you to the 9th Congress of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders – European Chapter (IFSO-EC), which is going to be held in Prague, Czech Republic on 10-12 December 2020. IFSO-EC European Congress in Prague is going to be a very special event to commemorate the First IFSO World Congress held in Prague in 1996, only a year after IFSO was officially established by a small international group of bariatric surgeons in Stockholm in 1995.
The Prague 2020 Congress will also celebrate official foundation of IFSO-EC, which was inaugurated at the EASO Congress in Prague in 2004. This Congress was in fact the first joint Meeting of IFSO-EC and EASO and the tradition of joint meetings successfully continues. The IFSO-EC International Scientific Committee and the Executive Council prepared a comprehensive programme of talks which covers diverse and interesting aspects of obesity, however post-graduate courses, live transmissions in video sessions, oral talks, posters and invited lectures will be organized.
Moreover, the 9th IFSO-EC Congress offers a platform for exchanging ideas among Young IFSO/IFSO-EC New investigators and other attendees.
IFSO-EC is convinced that the Prague Congress will provide participants a unique opportunity to intensify collaboration, establish new connections among attendees as well as to absorb social and cultural atmosphere of Prague Winter, its hospitality and friendness.
We are sure that you will gain several benefits from your participation in the Congress not only from a scientific point of view but also by meeting old friends and new colleagues.

As the current president of IFSO-EC it is my privilege and honour to welcome you to the 9th IFSO-European Chapter Congress that will take place in Prague, Czech Republic from 10-12 December 2020 under the local presidency of our executive director Prof. Martin Fried.
In 2020 the IFSO-EC congress in Prague will be the most important bariatric event taking place in Europe: Our Scientific committee together with the local organizing committee and the Executive Board of IFSO-EC put together a vibrating program including live operations, video sessions, a special part for our young members (Young IFSO & IFSO-EC New investigators) and last but not least we will have dedicated sessions for our allied health care members.
Prague is not only full of history but also linked with the foundation of IFSO and IFSO-EC more than 20 years ago…
